After turning 11, he tried to kill himself four times in the next four years. He succeeded at age 15. This poor child had been shuffled among 13 foster homes in the space of five years. He suffered from fetal alcohol problems which caused violent episodes, took three medications to control his behaviour and had been diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. He was also grieving for his grandpa, who had a terminal disease. Tyrell finally hanged himself by tying a shoelace to some playground equipment. He left behind things he had written in which his suicidal thoughts were expressed.
